Victron Energy Galvanic Isolator For Marine VDI-16A - GDI000016000

The Victron galvanic isolator is designed to prevent electrolytic corrosion on boats. It blocks low-voltage DC currents entering through the shore power earth wire, which can cause corrosion to underwater metals such as the hull, propeller and shaft.

Rated at 16 A for a 230 V AC connection, it contains two anti-parallel diodes. These allow current in both directions only above a threshold voltage of about 1.4 V DC. Install the isolator directly behind the boat's 230 V connection. If a higher fault voltage occurs in the AC circuit, the diodes allow current through so the residual-current device can break the circuit.
