Victron Orion-Tr Smart 24/24-17A (400W) Isolated DC-DC charger

The Victron Orion-Tr Smart 24/24-17A is an isolated DC-DC charger for dual-battery systems in vehicles or on boats, where a (smart) alternator and start battery charge the service battery. It has a 400 W rating and works in 12 V or 24 V systems with lead-acid or lithium batteries.

Bluetooth enables monitoring, programming and software updates using a Bluetooth-enabled phone, tablet or other device. The charger can be configured with a charging algorithm or fixed output voltage. Its adaptive three-stage charging sequence is bulk, absorption and float. For lead-acid batteries, absorption time is kept short after shallow discharges and extended automatically after a deep discharge. For lithium batteries, absorption time is fixed at two hours by default.

A remote on/off switch or relay contact can connect to the two-pole connector. Alternatively, its H terminal can be switched to battery positive, or its L terminal to battery negative or vehicle chassis. The engine-running detection mechanism supports smart alternators. Units are short-circuit proof and an unlimited number can be connected in parallel to increase output current.

The charger is suitable for temperatures up to 55°C, with full rated output up to 40°C; output current reduces at high ambient temperature. IP43 protection applies when installed with the screw terminals facing downwards. Screw terminals require no special installation tools, and the input fuse is not replaceable.
