NGK Glow Plug Y-507J (6897)

The NGK Y-507J is a glow plug for diesel engines, providing heat for cold starting. Its heater element is sealed inside a metal sheath; fast-heating types may instead have a ceramic sheath. The plug reaches well over 800°C within seconds of the ignition being switched on.

Specifications include a 10 mm hex, 10 mm thread diameter, 1.00 mm thread pitch, 105 mm overall length, 4 mm pin terminal and 32 mm glow tip. The marked voltage is 11 V. Installation torque is 15–20 Nm. Part number: Y-507J; stock number: 6897.

A quick, even glow improves cold-weather starting and reduces white smoke and rattle during the first minutes of running. On later engines, post-heating supports clean combustion while the engine warms through.
