The Makita DRT50 is an 18 V cordless router and trimmer kit with a brushless motor and aluminium housing and base. Its variable speed dial covers 10,000–30,000 rpm, while electronic speed control maintains a constant speed under load. A soft-start circuit provides smoother start-ups.

The tool has an LED job light, push-button lock-on/off, shaft lock and a connection for a dust extractor. It weighs 2.1 kg and has a Lithium-ion battery type; the battery and charger are not included.
