The Makita DLW140 is a cordless metal cut-off saw powered by two Makita LXT 18 V batteries simultaneously, providing 36 V. It is compatible with Makita 18 V LXT cordless tool batteries and requires two batteries to run.

The brushless motor has soft start. Features include tool-less guide plate adjustment and wheel change, a large spark guard, quick-release vice, pin-locking device and electric brake. The LED load status indicator illuminates more LEDs as motor load increases; all LEDs blink under excessive load.
