The Makita DGA517Z is a cordless angle grinder with a brushless motor, 18 V LXT Li-ion battery platform and paddle switch. Its 125 mm maximum disc diameter, 22.23 mm bore and 7.2 mm maximum disc thickness are paired with a no-load speed of 3,000–8,500 rpm.

The variable speed dial, soft start, electric brake, anti-restart function and electronic current limiter for overload protection are among its operating features. Active Feedback Sensing Technology switches the motor off if rotation suddenly stops, while Automatic Torque Drive Technology adjusts speed and torque during operation. The grinder also has a battery fuel gauge, slimline body, forward-angled handle, ergonomic soft grip and removable wire mesh dust covers.
