Lumenition MTK601 Magnetronic Ignition Kit – Bosch 009 & 050, 6 Volt

The Lumenition MTK601 is a 6-volt Magnetronic ignition kit for vehicles with a Bosch 009 or 050 distributor. Its magnetic trigger fits inside the distributor in place of the contact breaker points and condenser.

The kit has a two-wire connection to the coil and is designed to work with a conventional contact breaker coil, not a low-resistance electronic coil. A points-type 6-volt coil is required. It is for 6-volt negative-earth vehicles only; the MTK001 is the stated option for 12-volt use.

There is no separate power module under the bonnet. The system has no points to wear, burn or adjust; timing stays set, though it should be re-timed as it would be with points. The kit is described as offering easier starting and smoother running. Check the distributor model number before ordering.
